Why Google Tributes to Tyrus Wong Via Doodle

Today’s Google Doodle celebrates the 108th birthday of Tyrus Wong the Chinese-American artist responsible for some of the best-known images in American popular culture.

Wong has created some of the most well-known and popular images. He was also responsible for creating some of Disney’s most iconic works, including Bambi.

Google Doodle Paid Homage to Tyrus Wong

Tyrus Wong was born Wong Gen Yeo, in a village in southern China’s Guangdong Province on October 25, 1910. Wong and his father immigrated to the United States seeking a better life in 1920. They eventually settled in Los Angeles.

The Google doodle also shows how Tyrus Wong’s love for art from an early age.  His father recognizes his love of arts at early age. Wong practice calligraphy using water and newspapers as well as study Chinese art at the Los Angeles Central Library.

In junior high school, Wong received a scholarship to the Otis Art Institute, helping himself as a host in Chinatown.

In 1932, Wong’s work was presented at the Art Institute of Chicago. His most well-known movie was on the Disney film Bambi, where he served as a lead illustrator, profoundly influencing the art of the beloved classic.

Walt Disney hired Tyrus Wong in 1938 as an “inbetweener” intern. An illustrator who sketches between key animator sketches, forming the movement of a character or object.

Subsequently, Wong went on to work for Warner Brothers, drawing and painting storyboards that took shape in the form of some of the most iconic Hollywood movies like Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), Rebel Without a Cause (1955), and The Wild Bunch (1969).

Google, Doodle, Tyrus Wong

Today’s Doodle was heavily inspired by Tyrus’ paintings of forests, which are atmospheric, blurry, and magical. I tried to imbue the Doodle with this dreamy feeling too.

Wong passed away on December 30, 2016, at the age of 106. Even though his contributions were largely not in light during the time he lived.

A message from the creator of today’s Google Doodle, Sophie Diao:

The more research I did on his life, the more impressed I was by the playful and curious way he lived. I feel like I really got to know him from all the videos and interviews in which he lit up when talking about his creative process. Now that the project is over, I’ll miss being immersed in his world. I hope to carry forward the inspiration I found.

Happy Birthday, Tyrus Wong!

Donald Trump President of Social Media Campaign

A Social Media campaign with a reputation for keeping the media at a distance is finding new and innovative ways to generate positive publicity of its own making. Donald J Trump was not popular with America’s newspapers.

Social Media Campaign makes it easy for politicians to speak directly to voters without relying on the press. Several works have shown the potential of an online social media campaign. In particular of the microblogging platform Twitter, for analyzing the public sentiment in general or to predict stock markets movements or sales performance.

During the recent U.S. presidential campaign, critics of all political stripes recommended Donald Trump to give his Twitter account a break. He ignored them, avoiding mainstream media in favor of a technology that maintained to deliver his interesting messages shortly, regularly, every hour, without any filters. The Trump presidency and its fans utilize social media campaign, such as Facebook and Twitter, to declare power.

Attention Grabbing Social Media Campaign

Traditional media would not have been so complicit if Trump’s tweets hadn’t been so interesting as to be irresistible. His tweets call out particular individuals and oblige a reply. Of the 100 top current print newspapers, two endorsed him. More than 200 newspapers supported Clinton, while Trump received the support of fewer than 20.

Trump uses tweets to seek cultural resonance, today’s branding nirvana, and he finds it. He understands that while he is an author of brand meaning, branding is a joint activity a co-production on a cultural stage.

Social Media Campaign, Donald Trump

Twitter’s 140-character limit provokes by promoting messages that are prepared for misquoting. Within these restrictions, Trump doesn’t have to explain details or refine on context. The format invites controversy, encouraging media pickup and growing the audience in kind.

Trump has tweeted on his personal account, “@realDonaldTrump”, over 2550 times, averaging approximately 6.7 tweets per day. He frequently repeats similar phrases and keywords in large amounts, fixing the communal understanding of his supporters and enemies alike.

Trump’s tweets are unfiltered, spontaneous, and reveal his personal feelings and emotions about everything from the media, creating the opinion that a relationship is in play. Like or hate the approach, people believe they know the real Trump. This obviously person-to-person exposure of the man, spots and all, grants coveted authenticity and a solid base of connections than mass communication ever could.

Failure of Journalism

Trump’s online popularity allowed the future president to sidestep the traditional mainstream media.

Trump’s success and popularity are largely due to his internet presence. In the months leading up to the presidential election, it was reported that 45% of Trump’s campaign budget in a given month devoted to digital outreach and research.

A completely novel medium in the political sphere is Twitter. Twitter allows the president to connect personally with supporters, decry opponents, and express policy options, all in one space.

Trump’s social media campaign is perhaps the single most important aspect of his candidacy. On Facebook alone, Pro-Trump advocates acquired at least $100,000 worth of advertisements prior to the November election. A former Facebook official estimates that this was enough to reach at least 126 million Americans.

Donald Trump, the first Twitter-based President

Donald Trump’s presence as the first Twitter-based Presidency is no fluke. His social media presence is intentional and strategic, his posts while individually senseless are collectively incredibly shareable. In the internet era, a candidate’s ability to enter the household through televisions, cell phones, and more. While it is difficult to view Trump as successful in the political realms that traditionally have shaped the presidency. Trump success is owed largely to his ability to navigate the modern globalized world. However the rest of his presidency develops, at least one aspect will remain constant: Trump’s active online presence is not only definitive of his presidency but no doubt will shape and inspire all subsequent national elections for as long as social media can reign supreme (Source: Trump, social media and the first Twitter-based Presidency)

Why Social Media Optimization is Important

Social media optimization (SMO) is a subcategory of search engine optimization (SEO).

Social media optimization (SMO) is a form of internet marketing where one can generate publicity through social media. SMO process helps content get more widely visible through social media networks. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is actually a systematic process of making your site become more search engine friendly and relevant to a number of keywords that are related to your market.

Social media consists of collaborative tools such as internet forums, blogs, wikis, and social networking sites. SMO can turn out to be an effective strategy to promote goods or services if done in a subtle manner because it works in a word of mouth fashion.

There are two categories of SMO methods:

(1) Social media features added to the content itself, including RSS feeds, social news and sharing buttons, and incorporating third-party community functionalities, such as images and videos.

(2) Promotional activities in social media, aside from the content being promoted, including blogging, commenting on other blogs, participating in discussion groups, and posting status updates on social networking profiles.

Importance of Social Media Optimization (SMO)

As a technique, SMO is a viral marketing. In other words, word-of-mouth through the use of networking in social bookmarking, video, and photo sharing websites. Similarly, the use of blogs achieves the same result by sharing content through the use of RSS feeds in the blogosphere and special blog search engines.

Ensures a Strong Presence on the Web

The popularity of your website depends on the amounts of links that are pulled through. It not only introduces people to the business but also helps in branding, improving brand visibility and recall. In order to get more attention from social media users, you need to make sure each of your posts is a hit. You can get more attention and exposure to your social media posts using images, videos, gifs, and hashtags.

Drive Organic Traffic

Make sure you choose the social network that best supports your brand image and use it accordingly. Facebook has a heterogeneous base and that is why it is the best social network for promoting any brand. Social networks have different characteristics, some are more business-led (LinkedIn), some encourage craft (Pinterest, Instagram), some generate discussions (Twitter), while some are all about building the social life and social networks (Facebook).

Increases the Visibility

The medium allows you to position the brand to the customers on their own terms. With accessibility through mobile, video and audio, your customers get the chance to reach out to you anywhere, everywhere. If you are introducing a new brand into the market, it becomes extremely difficult to be visible. Choose niche specific influencers to ensure your brand is appearing to the right people.

Lead Generation

No marketing tool or technique plays a bigger role in influencing your brand perception than social media. Regularly interacting with followers, journalists, thought leaders and taste-makers can increase your profile. Improve your public image and give your brand the sales it deserves.

Improves ranking

An analogy to this would be the number of votes that a political candidate receives from the public, which would demonstrate the popularity of the candidate. Since search engines have started acquiring data from social media channels such as Google+ and showing them on the search results. SMO has gained prominence among marketers.

Role of Social Media on Politics

In recent times, social media has been an integral part of politics and its growth seems to be continuous. The shock of politics in 2016 has successfully borne new interest and engagement in young people.

Use of social media in politics has significantly increased. There are various ways by which people connect, by commenting, creating memes and even trolling. Their news feed is the space which they own and feel more comfortable. They don’t have to move out of their room to follow a certain political face or to be a part of a campaign. The dependency on print media and electronic media has reduced as people can now be a part of the news, express their views with others on this platform.

Social Media

The 2014 general elections in India was revolutionary. It saw social media as a new battleground. Narendra Modi emerged as India’s Obama.

Social Media Creating Unique Political Profile

During the Delhi elections in 2015, the power of social media was clearly felt. AAP used the modern way of campaigning and reached out to the public. They were using the tool in a way no one has ever thought of. Most of their leaders made their presence felt on Facebook and Twitter. From Arvind Kejriwal to their grassroots workers, everyone leveraged social media to ensure that they are reaching out to a larger audience.

A perfect example of this phenomenon is the current president, Donald Trump. Trump has become famous for, among a multitude of other things, his use of Twitter. Trump has used Twitter to voice his opinions for a long time, bypassing more official, and often what would be much more censored avenues of communication. He has been both praised and criticized for this use of social media, as many politicians are.

Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram give politicians the opportunity to shape their public image and convey a sense of transparency to users. And nowadays you better own it and avoid hiding any shady business, because nothing can stay out of the public eye for too long. Voters can now more than ever hold politicians accountable for their wrongdoings.

The Social Media Revolution

India

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a strong social presence. The BJP started using the social medium even before the 2009 general election. Mr Narendra Modi who was the Prime Minister candidate of BJP and all other members of BJP had very high popularity and a reach to the general public using social media is as compared to any other parties. Narendra Modi has the highest follower on Twitter and Facebook.

USA

Trump invested more in social media than on any other media. This is considered to be one of the key factors for his triumph over Clinton. Facebook has the advantage of providing data on what users like and dislike. In this way, an advertisement can be targeted according to personal preferences.

Users interact with posts and the e controversial ones even get the earned media, that is, free press coverage. Basically, Trump said something controversial on Facebook or Twitter and two hours later, news channels and talk shows were spreading the word, whether it was with positive or negative remarks, Trump didn’t mind because he’s a believer in the saying “all press is good press”.

Latin America

Although in the US there was a clear and evident correlation between social media advertising investment. The number of votes, this remains uncertain for Latin America. Candidates do invest in social media advertising. However, the results aren’t always directly proportional.

It didn’t always gain them the popularity they hoped and it even affected them negatively. Users would disregard their marketing strategies due to the lack of originality.

The reality of social media

Celebrities, sports stars and corporate head honchos are present on these sites so that they can keep in touch with people. They keep their fans and followers informed of latest updates, promote their work and listen to what people have to say.

Social Media

As leaders like Trump consistently turn to social media to connect with Americans and win elections, other leaders will begin to follow suit in order to stay on the curve. At the same time, social media can offer false comfort to politicians. Take Bernie Sanders for example, whose online support was so massive that it seemed that primaries would swing in his favour considerably. Yet, when the time came, that was not the case. Whether this is because of poor millennial voter turnout, or something else entirely. So online support isn’t always representative of real life support.

Indeed, nothing online is always exactly as it seems, in an age where everything is verifiable. It is a strange phenomenon that misinformation abounds on the internet and social media. Whether you feel a politician’s use of social media is promising or dangerous. It is important to keep in mind just how recent this trend it is, and just how strangely easy it is to be misled online.

Search Engine Marketing encompasses different techniques to harness a search engine’s technology. However, the two major tenets of SEM include SEO and PPC (Pay-Per-Click) ads. Google AdWords and Bing Ads are some of the most popular PPC vendors.

You might have seen PPC ads on Google – they are generally located above or on the right-hand side of the search results and you can distinguish them quite easily. In this way, SEM incorporates both free and paid means to achieve higher ranking on search engines.

SEM can also include social media marketing, as social media has risen in prominence in the last few years to influence consumer behavior. In short, SEM refers to all available forms of marketing to increase your website’s visibility on search engines.

Five most popular SEM strategies

  1. Content marketing: Creating text, image, video, and other media that attract and inform website visitors
  2. Pay-per-click advertising (PPC): Paying to promote your brand on search engines, social networks, and other popular websites
  3. Social media marketing: Crafting free profiles for your business to develop a trusting, dedicated following for your company
  4. Email marketing: Consequently sending helpful messages to qualified recipients who want to hear from you and converting them into paying customers
  5. Conversion rate optimization (CRO): Refining your website to get as many new leads and / or paying customers as possible

Components of SEM

Other than search engine optimization, SEM includes the use of paid search, such as pay per click (PPC) listings and advertisements. Most of the time, SEM strictly includes PPC campaigns and activities, but if you use SEO and paid search, that falls under SEM efforts.

  • Write a good description about yourself or your company

Focus on Relationships

Determining the traits of your target audience is a critical component of market research. Without this information, you’ll have no idea how to appeal to them. You need to know things like age, gender, location, pain points, goals, average income, etc.

Offer value to the people in your community with the goal of building real relationships. Offer value and knowledge. Inspire your communities to connect with you with a foundational goal of achieving their objectives. It is all about them and not you.

When you know your audience then you can know how you can help them be better. How can you help them learn? How can you help them go faster? Work smarter? Be smarter? Share more valuable information with their colleagues, clients, partners, and friends?  Figure these answers out and use them to help.

Take Advantage of Social Media for Promotion

Social media marketing continues to become a more crowded space, making it more difficult for most businesses to grab the attention of their ideal customer, much less engage with them there. This is especially true for B2B companies that may not be as sexy as B2C firms.

However, as social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram mature, they’ve become much better at understanding who your ideal customer is. Check out more: A Guide To Optimize Social Media

Choose Quality Over Quantity

These 3 questions are the start of building a strategy, which will allow you to move onto goals, branding and lead generation via social media. Therefore Companies that don’t do this crucial offline work risk wasting time and money online.

  1. Why am I in this business? It is important to start with this because we often forget the real answer. And hint, hint – money is never the real answer.
  2. Who is my product/service for? The answer to this should be as specific as possible. If you serve a variety of audiences, you need to make a profile for each. This profile should not only include demographical data like sex, age, and location, but also interests, hobbies, clothing brands, etc. Hence, this will allow you to clearly envision your ideal client(s), establish which social platforms to reach them.
  3. How does my product/service solve my ideal client’s problem? This is a two-part question as you must first establish the pain points your clients are experiencing. Then, you describe how your product or service resolves those pain points.

Engage with Your followers and Customers

Instead of wanting more and more, be patient and improve your relations with the customers you already have. This way, even if you are not getting more, you can at least ensure that you will not lose some as well.

Targeted email marketing is a great way to engage the audience with your brand. So Sticking to our central theme of the article, and as far as social media marketing is concerned, engaging potential customers could help your business immensely. You can give updates about your brand on social media and keep the interest of the client intact.

Keep Your Eye on SEO

SEO is not going out of fashion any time soon, the majority of people searching for your company on the web still refer to search engines as their first port of call.

If you have a presence in the top positions for keywords the user is searching, then you have a much better chance of attracting more attention and trust for your company. As for utilizing technology: consider a strategy on how to optimize your site’s content to meet Google’s standards for Featured Snippets.
